Did you know that cheering for the New England Patriots can result in a clean house – win or lose? We didn’t either but if you are Leah Rintoul that’s exactly what happens! And that’s not the only gold nugget of info tucked into this client hero article either.

Leah really stands out for us as someone who wants to balance her financial and lifestyle goals. Saving for the big things in life aren’t easy but the rewards as Leah found out are well worth it.

Go Patriots anyone?

Where are you from originally?

A farm outside of Simpson, Saskatchewan. A booming metropolis of approx. 100 people.

What is your favourite quote?

“You are never to old to set another goal or to dream a new dream”- C.S. Lewis

What is your favourite hobby?

Knitting! My grandma taught me when I was 12. Been obsessed with it ever since.

What is the most difficult aspect of being a nurse?

Every patient and their conditions are so different. Each person is unique so you really have to work hard to get to know their symptoms and understand them better.

If you could change one thing about your job what would it be?

Working holidays! It is so hard to be away from your family on special occasions.

What is your favourite aspect of being a nurse?

Watching patients go home! We typically see people at their worst and in the most stressful situations. To be a part of their recovery and to see them walk out with their family is the best feeling – ever.

If you had a chance for a do-over in life, what would you do differently?

I wouldn’t do anything differently, but that being said I have always dreamed of owning a bakery/flower shop. Two of my favourite things!

What might someone be surprised to know about you?

I am a huge New England Patriots fan. However, I am very superstitious when they play. In a close game I cannot stay in the room to watch. Can’t even glance in the room. I get too nervous and think I will somehow jinx the win. So I go and start cleaning the house.

What is your top money frustration?

Feeling like I never have enough money to do all of the things I want to do. Sometimes bills feel like such a chore.

Money and I get along:

Awkwardly. Money is one of those issues that can be so uncomfortable to talk about. I also tend to really over analyze everything related to money.

My proudest money moment:

Purchasing my first home in 2014! Saved for what felt like an eternity, but it was so satisfying when I had enough for a down payment.

Financial security to me means…

Opportunity. Whether it be treating myself, travelling or helping someone else out financially.

What was your latest splurge?

A month long trip to Australia. It’s always been a dream of mine to travel there and it was the best vacation of my life!
